ATLAS Leisure Buddies

Building genuine friendships and creating opportunities for people with disability to feel supported, included, and confident in their community.

The ATLAS Leisure Buddies Program is all about connection, confidence, and community.

The program provides people with disability with choices to select from a team of friendly, trained Leisure Buddies to share activities, build friendships, and reduce social isolation. Whether it’s going for a walk, joining a sports club, or simply catching up for coffee, Buddies help people feel included and supported to live active, fulfilling lives.

Looking for a Buddy?

Buddies are there to support your independence, confidence, and connection to others. Together, you’ll explore new experiences, build friendships, and enjoy a more inclusive community.

Keen to be a Buddy?

Being a Buddy is a rewarding way to make a real difference in someone’s life. You’ll be matched with a participant who shares similar interests, whether that’s fitness, art, movies, or just getting out in the community.

As a Buddy, you’ll:

  • Provide social and practical support for community participation

  • Encourage independence and inclusion

  • Be part of a network making a local impact

ATLAS provides full training and ongoing support to ensure you feel confident in your role.

Ready to become a Buddy?

I am incredibly grateful for my wonderful Leisure Buddies, who are always dedicated to supporting me in achieving my personal goals. They encourage me to step outside my comfort zone and try new activities. Because of their support, I now play tennis at the Geraldton Tennis Club every second Saturday and I’m learning how to socialise with new people.
